Semester Task: Summary

The article ‘Why a bad mistake at work can be good news’ written by Donna Ferguson is devoted to the discussion of the problem of people’s attitude to their mistakes in a career.  First, the author emphasizes that mistakes or failures in the career can affect on our self-esteem and self-confidence which can make some   people feel miserable. Donna Ferguson analyzes that for most of people it is difficult to accept their mistakes, people   just refuse them, especially if they are serious ones. We should remember that it’s quite natural for all people make mistakes. They serve us to analyze them, make conclusions and become wiser little by little. However, after making mistakes some people become depressed and broken. She gives an example of a chief executive of the ‘Young Gamers & Gamblers Education Trust’ Lee Willows who stole nineteen thousand pounds from his hirer. Lee Willows hated himself for it and thought that he had made the biggest mistake in his lif...

Semester task: Solution to Problems Essay.

'Teenage girl kills herself 'after Instagram poll' in Malaysia'. Social networks, such as Instagram harm our mental health and can lead to such consequences as: lack of sleep, low self-esteem and even suicide. A Malaysian 16 year-old  girl committed a suicide after a poll on her Instagram in which she asked, if she should die or not. The majority of votes was affirmative, so that is why she killed herself. What should people do in such situations to avoid suicide? First of all, that situation clearly shows us that we shouldn’t listen to opinion of different people on social networks, especially if we don’t know them very well. Do things according to your own opinion! People who said ‘yes’ to her question definitely didn’t take it seriously and didn’t do anything to talk her out of suicide. Secondly, instead of showing your problems on social networks, these people ought to talk to their parents or close people about their mental problems and emotional state. Such...

Semester Task: A Reflection Note

Today I would like to share with you my personal opinion about this academic subject. Most of all I liked that we had an opportunity to work in small groups of 2-3 people to discuss some interesting themes or situations. I find it helpful because a good teamwork helps us understand other people better, listen to their opinion and share your own point of view. In   addition, such teamwork develops our communicative skills. What is more, I like that we use such website as ‘ Blogger.com ’ because here we can not only post our own essays, but also see other works of students in my group and even estimate their essays by writing comments. However, one thing wasn’t very useful for me during this semester . For example, to write a movie review in the third person, explaining who we are. Why can't we just write a simple review and share our opinion on them?  Next semester I would like to spend more time by watching different cognitive videos, connected to the educati...

Film Review/ 'Escape Room'

Изображение
Yesterday I watched an exciting movie which is called ‘Escape Room’. It’s a psychological horror mystery film, as it is full frightening action moments which keeps you in suspense during the whole film. I think that ‘Columbia Pictures’ did a great job because this film is worth seeing. The plot is about 6 strangers: an excellent student Zoey, a stock boy Ben, a day trader Jason, a war veteran Amanda, a tracker Mike, and an escape room enthusiast Danny. Once all of them got small black boxes with an invitation to a quest. They all agreed to come because a winner will receive one million dollars! All they had to do was just to find an escape from every room, in which they were closed. Unfortunately, it wasn’t as simple as it seemed.  The film stars are: Taylor Russell as Zoey Davis, Logan Miller as Ben Miller, Deborah Ann Woll as Amanda Harper, Tyler Labine as Mike Nolan, Jay Ellis as Jason Walker, Nik Dodani as Danny Khan and others. From my point of view, all actresses...
